1. The small screw to the right of the sensor shield may be turned with a jeweler’s screwdriver to adjust the radon level. Turning the screw clockwise will increase airflow, resulting in a lower radon level
2. Mold is automatically prevented by measuring indoor relative humidity second-by-second. Should indoor relative humidity rise above 59.9%, the controller immediately suspends fan operation. Within seconds of indoor relative humidity decreasing to below 60%, fresh air delivery is restored. This reliable and effective feature will make it unlikely that you will need to install an expensive dehumidifier later.
3. Radon system air delivery rate is indicated by the digital meter in the upper right. The meter reading is the approximate number of cubic feet per minute of highly filtered outdoor that the radon system is delivering. To reduce radon level, turn the adjusting screw clockwise and note the meter increase. Turning the screw counterclockwise will decrease the ventilation rate and increase the radon level
4. Failure of the radon system is indicated by the meter reading going blank or by a reading of “0.00.”
HOW CAN I KNOW THAT MY RADON SYSTEM IS PROTECTING ME AND MY FAMILY AND PETS?
It is very highly recommended that you have and use an electronic radon meter that sounds an audible alarm upon radon system failure and that is not battery operated. It is very important that the meter sound an audible alarm in the event radon levels remain above 4.0 picoCuries per liter for more than several days. The preferred meter is offered for sale at https://smartairstore.com.
SmartVentilation strongly recommends against the use of blue oil-filled manometers to indicate fresh air radon mitigation system performance or failure.
HOW CAN I REDUCE THE RADON LEVEL?
To adjust the radon level, insert a straight-slot jeweler’s screwdriver into the small hole to the right of the sensor shield. The tip of the screwdriver must be fitted into the slot of the screw which can be sensed by feel. Turn the screw clockwise and watch the meter reading increase to a higher fresh air delivery rate. In most cases, it takes only a slight numerical increase to lower the radon level.
HOW CAN I CHANGE THE INDOOR RELATIVE HUMIDITY LEVEL LIMITS MAINTAINED BY THE CONTROLLER?
SmartVentilation does not recommend that you alter the factory-settings which are selected to maintain good comfort while preventing mold growth from radon system operation. Changing the settings is a complicated matter best performed by a trained and skilled technician. Improper settings can create a mold and comfort disaster. If you wish, contact SmartVentilation and a technician will make a proper adjustment for you. In nearly every case, a properly-functioning air conditioner will be able to control indoor relative humidity with the help of the SmartVentilation humidity control functionality.
HOW ARE REPAIRS MADE TO THE RADON SYSTEM?
